Industry veteran Mai Matsumoto joined Heritage as Managing Director to establish and lead the operations of our Tokyo office. Matsumoto has more than a dozen years of auction experience, including tenures with the Tokyo offices of Antiquorum Auctioneers Hong Kong Ltd. and Phillips Auctioneers, where she was involved in all aspects of operations, from client relations to office management. At Heritage, she works with collectors across all categories and oversees the Tokyo office team to deliver exceptional service. Since the office's opening in 2024, Matsumoto and her team have provided unparalleled support to clients throughout Japan. The Tokyo office has steadily expanded to meet the growing demand for consignments, while introducing the value of fine art and collectibles and sharing the excitement of auctions with the Japanese market.

Tomoko Mizutani became Consignment Director at Heritage
Auctions Tokyo in 2025, bringing with her nearly two decades of experience in
the luxury and auction industries.

She began her career at Sotheby’s Japan in 2006, where she
played a key role in building and expanding the Jewellery and Watches
departments. Her efforts contributed significantly to the Tokyo office’s
revenue growth, while her expertise extended across categories including Fine
Art, Asian Art, Decorative Arts, Design, and Collectibles.

In 2016, Tomoko joined Phillips Auctioneers Japan as a
Jewellery Specialist and Deputy Director. There, she helped grow the regional
market and nurtured long-term relationships with a distinguished clientele,
elevating the profile of the department across Asia.

Before joining Heritage, Tomoko served as a partner agent
for Antiquorum Geneva in 2024 and held the role of Director of Luxury Sales at
an international business consulting firm, overseeing high-value transactions
in jewellery, watches, and fine art.

Tomoko is a certified Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and holds a
Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Glasgow, where she
specialized in the historical significance of jewellery, with a dissertation on
Mary, Queen of Scots.

Taku Jotoku

After completing the Mastère program in Ancient Art at Institut d’études supérieures des arts (IESA) in Paris, France, Taku began his career at the Musée national Picasso-Paris. Following experience at auction houses and galleries, he established himself as an independent art dealer. He specializes in brokering, representing, and negotiating international art transactions. After returning to Tokyo, he expanded his activities across a wide range of areas within the art market—from antiques to contemporary art—engaging in art distribution, directing art festivals, and advising corporate art initiatives. Taku later joined Heritage Auctions Japan as a Consignment Director, with expertise in both fine art and pop culture.
